CareFirst ‘A Player’ on Community Teams
Giving back to the communities we serve, CareFirst sponsors several sports related programs in partnership with professional sports teams.
K's for Kids
The Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals both participate in this program that generates a CareFirst donation of $25 to a childrens’ charity for each strikeout recorded by the home town pitchers. The Bowie Baysox, Frederick Keys and Delmarva Shorebirds participate in similar programs with $10 donated for each strikeout.
Childrens’ Charities that benefit from the K's for Kids program include:
- American Cancer Society
- Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington
- Boys and Girls Clubs of Lower Eastern Shore
- Boys and Girls Clubs of Prince Georges County
- Community Foundation of Frederick County
- YMCA of Central Maryland
Community Touchdowns
The Baltimore Ravens and Washington Redskins are our other teammates in programs that generate a $1,000 charitable contribution for every home team touchdown. Among the organizations that benefit from this program are Health Care for the Homeless and the Capital Area Food Bank and Whitman Walker Clinic in Washington DC.
CareFirst also participates in sports related programs with:
- The Baltimore Blast (indoor soccer) Saves for Kids program in support
of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Maryland - The Washington Wizards (professional basketball) Community Threes
program in support of the YMCA of Greater Washington and Unity
Healthcare. - The Washington Capitals/CareFirst Assists program in support of the American Lung Association of DC’s Breath Easy Campaign.
- Washington Mystics Community Three’s program in support of Girls, Inc. and Girl Scouts of the National Capital Area.
