Perinatal Outreach Program
The Perinatal Outreach Program will empower and help women make positive health decisions before, during and after pregnancy. It will also link at-risk women in the Northern Virginia community to medical homes and other health-promoting activities and events.
The program will:
- Improve communications between women and health care providers
- Increase incidence and rate of healthy activities
- Decrease inappropriate use of alcohol and drugs
- Cease or decrease use of tobacco
- Increase compliance with evidence-based guidelines for pre and post natal care
- Increase use of medications and vitamins
- Increase health screening and immunization rates
- Increase active involvement in planning the labor, delivery and recovery
- Increase confidence in ability to use healthcare system
