How to Apply for a Grant
The grant process is administered by the CareFirst’s Office of Public Policy and Community Affairs. Please follow these steps in submitting a grant application:
- Confirm that your request is consistent with funding priorities and requirements established by the CareFirst Board of Directors.
- Download the Grant Application Guidelines to obtain details on mandatory information needed to complete a grant application. Include all required information.
- All requests for funding must be submitted in writing and sent to:

Written requests may also be sent via e-mail to: Community.Relations@CareFirst.com. Please do not send confidential information in your e-mail request.
Special note: All e-mailed proposals must be submitted on the organization’s letterhead as an attachment.
How Grant Applications Are Processed
Grant Applications are accepted throughout the calendar year. Upon receipt, applications are reviewed and an acknowledgement of receipt is sent to the application.
The review and approval process takes about 4 to 6 weeks. Requests for grants of $100,000 or more take longer – usually about 12 weeks.
Please Remember: We recognize that there are many worthwhile charitable organizations doing outstanding work throughout our service area. We will support as many charitable organizations as our funding allows.
